Celebrating successful whole home retrofit scheme for homeowners

Resolution Energy has been working closely with charity The National Energy Foundation over the past two years to support a whole home retrofit pilot scheme.

The project has been running in the Petersfield and Winchester areas, and provides support and guidance to homeowners looking to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

With the pilot project coming to a close, we were pleased to join the project partners at a celebration event at Winchester Guildhall.

Claire Westron of Resolution Energy was invited to speak at the event to share findings on the use of the Superhomes Rating Scheme in whole home retrofit, and the links with EPC ratings for properties.

There were some really interesting discussions around the suitability of EPC ratings in their current form as a tool for assessing domestic retrofit. While EPCs are a useful benchmark for energy performance they only currently tell us about running costs. A more holistic approach covering the "4 Cs" carbon, comfort, cost and consumption is needed.
